Suraj recently won the first gold medal in athletics for Uttarakhand in the 20 kilometer walk race in the 37th National Games held in Goa. He finished this race in one hour and 27 minutes.

Suraj told that his dream is to serve his state. One of the main reasons for this is that he kept taking training from his coach while staying in Uttarakhand. Told, till now he has received job offers from the Center in Railways, Army and Navy. But he only wants to work in his own state.

For this he has also held talks with the state government several times. Despite this they get only empty assurances. Said, he wants to win gold for the country by participating in the Olympic Games to be held in Paris next year.

Players unhappy with coach's transfer had left Doon

Unhappy with the transfer of coach Anoop Bisht to Pauri, many players had left Maharana Pratap Sports College, Doon. One of them was Suraj Panwar. Suraj, originally a resident of Pratapnagar, Tehri, started taking walk race training from his coach Anoop Bisht in Doon in 2017. But in May this year the coach was transferred to Pauri.
